Description
Under the direction of a Research Scientist 1 or other supervisory official in a state department, institution, or agency, conducts or participates in research projects or developed programs in a specified professional field; does other related work.
Specific to the Position
Assists Fish and Wildlife pathologists with monitoring and research on fish and wildlife
diseases in free-ranging and cultured stocks, including field investigations of mortality events. Collects samples and prepares samples for testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures. Assists with data entry and report writing as required. Assists in ensuring that lab supplies at the Pequest Fish Health and the Clinton Wildlife Pathology Laboratories are maintained.
Preferred Skill Set
At least 6 months of experience in collecting, preparing, processing, and analyzing fish and
wildlife samples from free-ranging and cultured stocks to verify the presence of pathogens or identify causes of mortality, including knowledge of the operation of related scientific equipment.
Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in a field appropriate to the position.
NOTE: A Doctorate in a discipline appropriate to the position may be substituted for two (2) years of experience indicated above.
NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting. Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
