Scope of Eligibility

Description
Under direction of a supervisor, in a state department or agency, assists in the operation and maintenance of various types of boats assigned to the unit; does related work as required.
Specific to the Position
Periodic manual inspection of Floodgate tide boards, recording, and comparison to digital readouts. Alerting full-time Floodgate staff of impending/needed closings of the gate and potential operations of the interior drainage pumps. When closed, periodic inspections of inland and bayside tide boards to track subsidence of flooding event and ability to reopen.
Preferred Skill Set
Ability to work alternating hours and shifts, effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to anticipate changes to the water bodies necessitating Floodgate closure.

Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Residency
All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011, have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the “New Jersey First Act”.
Authorization to Work
