Scope of Eligibility
Open to permanent employees in a competitive title who works for the Division of Budget & Financial Operations and meet the requirements below.
Description
Under supervision, performs typing and other related clerical work requiring the exercise of independent judgment and a working knowledge of department rules, regulations, and policies, and/or has charge of the work of a small group of clerk typists, and/or has charge of the designated phase of the typing work of the department; does related work as required.
Specific to the Position
Reviews & finalizes all payments to vendors. Opens, sorts, and distributes mail. Researches incoming checks and distributes accordingly. Sorts and files vouchers, requisitions, or other materials electronically. Answers the telephone and provides general information and routes calls. May assist in requisitioning, storing, and distributing office supplies. Maintains records and files electronically. Knowledge of the NJSTART & NJCFS system. Ability to comprehend circular letter, state term contracts and department regulations. Pulls check numbers for completed invoices.
Preferred Skill Set
The ideal candidate should possess the ability to organize and maintain proper records. Have excellent written and oral communication skills. Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and disseminate information in a timely fashion.
Requirements
One (1) year of experience in clerical work including typing.
NOTE: Successful completion of a clerical training program with a minimum of 700 clerical training hours or 30 semester hour credits in secretarial science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the experience indicated above. Coursework must include typing skills, methods, and procedures; other courses may include, but not be limited to, office procedures, word processing, and business English.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
