Scope of Eligibility
Open to permanent employees who work for State Park Service and meet the requirements below.

Description
Under supervision of a Superintendent, Park Maintenance Supervisor, or other supervisory official in the State Park Service, Department of Environmental Protection, performs semiskilled tasks for the construction, maintenance, and improvement of physical plants, facilities, equipment, and grounds at assigned State parks, forests, recreation areas, historic sites, and marinas; does other related duties as required.

Specific to Position
Position 1) Takes the lead in ground and building maintenance for the Park/Forest/Recreation Area. Performs extensive services regarding grass & lawn care, hazard tree removal, carpentry, vehicle and equipment maintenance and upkeep, recordkeeping, snow removal and FEMA/Storm Recovery. Ensures public safety and communication regarding CBTM, capital requests and price quotes.
*Due to nature of the role, this position is performed exclusively on-site.

Position 2) Performs semiskilled tasks for the construction, maintenance, and improvement of the facilities, equipment, and grounds at Liberty State Park, and Boxwood Hall historic site; does other related duties as required. Operates and maintains all types of vehicles and equipment including pneumatic tools, air compressors, jackhammers, pavement breakers, concrete mixers, power tools, and shop equipment in a safe and proper manner having full knowledge of the purpose and limitations of each vehicle, tool, and piece of equipment.
*Due to nature of the role, this position is performed exclusively on-site.

Preferred Skill Set
Skills in maintenance of buildings and grounds, ability to repair equipment and basic vehicular needs, communication of park problems, repair needs, and interactions with outside vendors.  Organization and ability to delegate a must.

Requirements
Two (2) years of experience in buildings and grounds maintenance which shall have included semiskilled carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical, and/or other related work.


License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Appointees may be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicle being operated.
