Description
Under direction of a supervisory official in a state department, institution, or agency, improves and maintains the physical condition of state property primarily by performing routine manual work; does other related duties as required.
Specific to the Position
The responsibilities of the position include custodial services for patron health and safety, major/minor repairs, snow removal, basic painting, carpentry, roadway and outdoor recreation facilities. Also responsible for the care and maintenance of the infrastructures, grounds and out areas of the park(s) including but not limited to ground maintenance, janitorial services, corporate business tax (CBT) projects and vehicle/equipment maintenance. State Park Service operations are seven-day year-round operations requiring weekend, holiday and after-hour coverage.
*Due to nature of the role, this position is performed exclusively on-site.
Preferred Skill Set
Experience with manual and power tools and equipment. Eager learner, enjoys working outdoors.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of experience in the maintenance of forests and/or parks or in general maintenance and repair work involving a variety of carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and/or related tasks.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Appointee may be required to obtain a NJ Certified Pesticide Applicator’s or Operator’s permit in the required categories.
Appointees may be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicle being operated.
