Scope of Eligibility
Open to permanent employees in a competitive title in the Division of New Jersey State Parks who meet the requirements below.

Description
Under the direction of a higher-level supervisory official in the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), supervises staff and performs the skilled and/or semiskilled tasks associated with the construction, maintenance, repair, and improvement of structures, facilities, equipment, and grounds at assigned state parks, forests, recreational areas, historic sites, wildlife management areas, marinas, or any other state-owned facilities within the Natural and Historic Resource Program area; may participate in the preparation of area budgets to include obtaining bids for services and equipment; supervises staff and work activities; prepares and signs official performance evaluations for subordinate staff; does other related duties as required.

Specific to Position
This position supervises maintenance staff and oversees the maintenance of infrastructure, grounds and satellite areas of the park providing for the life, health, and safety of the visiting public. Historic facilities, public facilities and venues require varying levels of maintenance to include plumbing, carpentry, masonry, heating and cooling, grounds care, playground maintenance, janitorial services, Corporate Business Tax maintenance projects; vehicle/equipment maintenance. Does other related work.

*Due to nature of the role, this position is performed exclusively on-site.

Preferred Skill Set
Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite to complete employees' ePARs, price quotes, logs, proposals, and other documents needed to perform maintenance supervisor duties.

Requirements
EXPERIENCEFive (5) years of experience involving the maintenance, renovation, construction, repair, and/or improvement of facilities, buildings, grounds, or wildlife/fishery management areas, including skilled and/or semiskilled carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical, painting, landscaping, and/or other related work, one (1) year of which shall have been in a lead worker capacity.

License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Appointees may be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicle being operated.

Appointees may be required to obtain a valid New Jersey Boat Operator’s license.

Special Notes:
Appointees may be required to obtain a NJ Certified Pesticide Applicator’s or Operator’s License in the required categories based on area of assignment.

Appointees may be designated as essential personnel and must report to their workstation during emergency situations.

Appointees may be required to attend required training courses to obtain certifications that may be required based on area of assignment.

Appointees may be required to wear an appropriate respirator and complete an annual training course in respiratory protection.

Appointees may be required to successfully complete a forest fire training course administered by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
