Scope of Eligibility:
Open to permanent employees in a competitive title who work for the Division of Enforcement & Financial Operations and meet the requirements below.
Description:
Under direction of a Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist 1 or other supervisory official, designs, develops, coordinates, and conducts computerized geographic information system work relating to the geographic analysis of environmental parameters and/or other factors, image processing, interpretation and application of remote sensing data, and mathematical cartography research; coordinates and conducts the operation and maintenance of computer hardware and software associated with the Geographic Information System; does other related duties.
Specific to the Position:
Automate GIS Submittal procedure. Develop widgets in JAVA script to assist users of the SRP version of Geoweb on-line mapping tool. Lead role Database administrator for BGIS’s PostGres GIS database.

Requirements:
Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Seven (7) years of professional experience with geographic information systems, including computer graphics and computer hardware digitizing procedures.
OR
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and three (3) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR
Possession of a Master's degree in Geography or Environmental Science including or supplemented by the additional credits indicated below; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR
A specific Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science or related field with twelve (12) semester hours in computer mapping/GIS which shall have included spatial programming and digital image processing; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.
NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting. Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility.
License
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
