Description
The successful applicant for this joint seasonal position between NJ Fish & Wildlife and the New Jersey Water Supply Authority will lead an education-based boat inspection program for aquatic invasive species at the Round Valley Reservoir while also gaining experience as a seasonal Fisheries Technician. 

Many aquatic invasive species (AIS) spread between water bodies by travelling on recreational boats, trailers, and fishing equipment. Three days per week, the successful applicant will work at the Round Valley boat launch and inspect watercraft for attached aquatic invasive species, conduct boater surveys on AIS spread and boater tendencies, and educate boaters on what they can do to protect local waterbodies from AIS infestation. The applicant will be trained by staff and learn aquatic invasive species identification, gain outreach and educational experience. In addition, the applicant will work two days per week as a seasonal Fish & Wildlife Fisheries Technician, working with fisheries biologists on management projects, and may also help NJWSA staff on water quality monitoring.

Specific to Position
Must have good verbal communication skills and be comfortable working with the public in outdoor environments. Must be available to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis throughout employment. For fisheries work, must be comfortable in waders and working in streams. College student or graduate with a concentration in fisheries, natural resource management, environmental science, or biology is preferred.

License
Operation of a state vehicle will require appointee to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.

Residency
