Description
Under close supervision and monitoring in a state or local government agency, performs analysis, maintenance, programming and support work on modules of existing systems; may develop web applications or websites; does other related work.
Specific to the Position
The appointee will focus on the development and implementation of products and tools
that leverage the latest advancements in AI; will assist in navigating NJDEP operations through a self-starting, proactive approach; will be involved in managing projects to evaluate, create and maintain AI-driven solutions tailored to NJDEP’s unique needs as related to NJDEP’s environmental information management systems; will be required to assist with AI product development and integration including design, development, and deployment of AI tools and applications that enhance NJDEP’s operational efficiency and service delivery; will also be required to stay abreast of the latest AI technologies and integrate them into new and existing systems to maintain cutting-edge capabilities, train generative AI models on NJDEP data sets and structures, and manipulate generative AI environments using Python programming language.
Preferred Skill Set:
Ability to perform tasks within project lifecycles from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints, coordinate with cross-functional teams to align project goals with NJDEP objectives, and develop/maintain project documentation and reports. Broad knowledge of and experience in software development (Python preferred), with a strong focus on AI and machine learning. Proficiency in developing public-facing web applications. Excellent problem-solving skills.
Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Five (5) years of professional experience in programming, systems programming or computer analysis.
OR
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR
Possession of a Master's degree in an information technology field.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting. Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
